Pailin Prisoner Breaks Free

Pailin: A detainee broke through a fence in Pailin prison and fled.

Some nearby cassava farmers said that on afternoon of October 30, 2019, they saw Pailin police officers chase a man in a prison uniform out of prison and into the jungle and cassava plantations.

A preliminary official source revealed that the inmate was in his 20s, and made his break for freedom at around 1 pm on October 30, 2019.

By the afternoon of October 31, 2019, he has not been found.

Lim Veasna, director of the Pailin prison, confirmed the report earlier by phone. But when it was suggested that a journalist from Rasmei Kampuchea suggested he could clarify more information, the director hung up.
