Internet Service Companies Ordered To Close

The following letter was issued on March 4. Since then several companies, including internet hosting providers have been contacted and ordered to close down operations.

One domestic cloud provider company has said they were given less than 24 hours notice to move all operations out of Cambodia, despite them being a registered business.

“The decree targets ISPs and was designed to stop backyard internet providers from reselling services from larger ISPs. Unfortunately any operator with their own IP addresses has been painted with the same brush irrespective of their business” the company spokesman said. “This has disrupted the operations of over 600 local online businesses, and has resulted in a large amount of businesses losing faith in the Cambodian IT sector and moving operations overseas.”
