UPDATE: A woman who took a taxi from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh, stayed the night in the city and took a Capitol bus to Siem Reap is believed to be the first case of COVID-19 in the north since the Feb. 20 outbreak. Schools closed in Puok District.

UPDATE: The Ministry of Health in the afternoon of March 9, 2021, issued the daily press release confirming 49 new cases of COVID-19 and 21 people who were treated and discharged.
Of these, 48 were cases linked to the “February 20 community event”- 28 were Chinese, 19 Cambodians and 1 Indonesian. The imported case is a Libyan man traveling from Libya to Cambodia on March 7, 2021.
Of the 21 treated, one was a Swiss national traveling from abroad and the other 20 were patients involved in the “February 20” event.
This raises the total to 1,060 Kovid 19 infected people, of which 538 have been treated and 521 are currently hospitalized.
Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Health has not yet published the daily press release on the COVID-19 situation. However, local media reports that last night a broadcast from the PM confirmed ‘at least 49’ new cases including:
UPDATE: 6 casinos in the Kandal town of Chrey Thom have been closed after 5 foreign nationals tested for COVID. Authorities are restricting movement and access to the area.

Prey Veng province has found 11 new cases, linked to a local medical clinic after a staff member tested positive.
Keo Channimol (a Hang Meas TV MC/ presenter) confirmed that she, her husband and her 10-year-old daughter all tested positive. Other stars are being tested and kept under observation including Ouk Sokunkanha. The younger brother of Hang Meas CEO reportedly been infected, along with another star from the TV channel.
