Woman Admits To Faking Robbery

Pursat Province: Pursat Provincial Police went with local authorities to investigate a crime scene after a woman reported a robbery.

Money and gold were said to have been stolen at 4:00 am on March 7, 2021 at the house of Kor Va, male, 47 years old, in Trapeang Chong village, Bakan district, Pursat province.

Brigadier General Molida, Deputy Commissioner for Criminal Planning, said that after a thorough investigation, it was found the incident had been faked by a 53-year-old Cambodian woman named Sary Yunny, the wife of the homeowner.

According to reports, Sary Yunny waited until her husband went out to work, and claimed that three unidentified people rushed into the house tied her up and stole $1,200 and jewelry.

After an investigation, she confessed to police that she had spent all of the money and sold the jewelry, and made the claims of robbery because she feared her husband would blame. The injuries sustained were all self-inflicted.

The brigadier general continued that after she confessed to the authorities, she was educated and made a contract agreeing not to waste police time again. NKD
