34 New COVID Cases Recorded

 

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Health issued the daily press release on the morning of 7 March 2021, confirming the discovery of 34 new cases of COVID-19.

31 cases were linked to the “February 20 community event” outbreak, while the other 3 were travelers from abroad.

15 new cases are in Sihanoukville (14 Chinese & 1 Vietnamese) & 1 new case in Prey Veng (1 Cambodian) & 1 new case in Kampong Thom (1 Cambodian).

The 3 other cases were all Cambodian males- UN peacekeepers. They transferred from Africa to India and returned home on February 21. They are receiving treatment at the Military Academy in Kampong Speu Province.

This brings the total of cases discovered to 987, of which around 470 are linked to the February outbreak (*hard to get sources to tally)- 110 of those in Sihanoukville.

19 patients were discharged from hospital, all of which were related to the February incident, including 16 Chinese, 2 Cambodians and 1 Vietnamese.
