Arrests After Vietnamese Illegally Cross Into Kampot Province

Kampot:   On February 17, 2021, two suspects were arrested for bringing illegal immigrants into Kampot province. The arrests took place in Koh Chamkar village, Boeung Sala Khang Tbong commune, Kampong Trach district, Kampot province.

The two suspects were:  1. Hon Thorn, male, 43 years old, living in Koh Chamkar village, Boeung Sala Khang Tbong commune, Kampong Trach district, Kampot province. 2. Hon Vik, male, 33 years old, living in Thkov village, Russey commune, Khang Lech district, Kampong Trach district. 

Authorities described that at 3:00 am on February 17, while on duty and patrolling in Koh Chamkar village, Boeung Sala Khang Tbong commune, border guards spotted five men and women. Two of the men were Cambodian and three were Vietnamese. Through interrogation of the three Vietnamese nationals, the police discovered that they were brought across the border by the two Cambodian brokers.

After questioning and taking notes, the 601st Battalion handed over the two Cambodian suspects to Kampot police to handle the procedure. The three Vietnamese were handed over to Vietnamese border guards, with the request for information on the COVID tests they will take in quarantine. AREY
