Two Wives Of Ministry Officials Test + For COVID-19

Phnom Penh: Two wives of senior officials from the Ministry of Interior were diagnosed with COVID-19 on the evening of November 29.

A spokeperson for the Ministry of Health said that two confirmed patients received tests on the 29th and the results were positive.

One patient is the wife of an official of the Information Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior, she is a housewife; the other patient is the wife of the Deputy Director of the Directorate General of Prisons of the Ministry of the Interior, and she is a bank employee.

The tests of both husbands were negative.

The Ministry of Health stated that the source of infection in the two newly confirmed cases is unknown.

An official announcement from the MoH will be made tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile the Chinese embassy in Phnom Penh has issued a notice that it will close until December 4, unless it is called to issue death certificates. Passport/visa and other services will be unavailable until the office reopens, according to Chinese media.
