Former SHV Planning Chief Jailed For 7 Years

Phnom Penh:  On the afternoon of November 17, 2020, the former director of the Department of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction of Preah Sihanouk Province was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment, fined 100 million Riels and had 3 plots of land confiscated and given to state property. The verdict gives the accused the right to appeal in accordance with the law.

Defendant Nuon Pok, male, 45 years old, is the former Director of the Department of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction of Preah Sihanouk Province.

On the afternoon of March 5, 2020, the Prosecutor’s Office decided to charge the former Director of the Department of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction of Preah Sihanouk Province for 3 crimes: 1. Violation of power 2. Violation of natural resources and 3. Provision and use of forged documents by the authorities. 

On March 4, 2020, he was sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) to make official inquiries and charges related to committing corruption crimes. The suspect was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Unit on March 1 in Sihanoukville and sent to Phnom Penh. AREY
