BBQ Murder- Officer Jailed For Chinese Man’s Death

Phnom Penh: A former military officer was sentenced to 25 years in prison under the charge of premeditated murder under Article 200 of the Penal Code.

The court also ordered that the accused compensate his mother-in-law and wife.

Kong Kosal, 40, was charged over the death of 46-year-old Song Qingjun, a Chinese national on December 24, 2018 Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh.

The accused admitted during a hearing on October 24, 2019 that he had stabbed the Chinese victim to death and injured his ex-wife because he was angry over visiting rights for his children.

During the trial, the defendant confessed to his action.

The Chinese man was having a romantic relationship with the suspect’s former wife and was stabbed 14 times in front of the suspect’s children and mother-in-law.

After the attack, the suspect fled to Preah Vihear and was arrested by the authorities. KPT
