Svay Rieng: A sugarcane plantations of around 22 hectares was almost completely destroyed in a case of suspected arson.
The incident happened at 6:45 pm on December 2, 2019, on land owned by Sophat Samnang in Svay Teap district, Svay Rieng province.
Authorities said the fire lasted more than two hours before being brought under control
After the police visited the scene, an investigation was launched to arrest any suspects and bring them to legal prosecution.
According to authorities, the 22 hectares of burnt sugar cane was due to be harvested on December 5, 2019. The company had got a large truck near the plantation in preparation for shipping it to a sugar cane factory in Vietnam.
