Kratie River Dolphin Dies

Kratie:  A female river dolphin was found dead in Sambok commune, Chitr Borei district, Kratie on November 12, 2019, according to WWF-Cambodia.

The dolphin research team found that the dead dolphin weighed 110 kilograms and had a length of 227 cm. The death was caused after it got trapped in illegal fishing nets. SWIFT NEWS

EDIT: Kang Ratana, director of the Kratie provincial tourism department, said that the net around the the dolphin’s tail was probably drifting in the river, and added that locals also had a lot of knowledge about conservation, so they do not put their nets in areas where dolphins still live. KBN
