Smuggled Swine Left To Die

Svay Rieng Province: Almost 300 pigs were seized by the Department of Agriculture , Forestry and Fisheries after being smuggled across the border from Vietnam.

Over 80 have since died from a lack of food and water, according to veterinary officials.

The animals were taken near the border gates in Bos Rumduol commune in the early hours of November 4th.

By November 7th, more than 80 had died and 200 pigs were still without food or water as nobody appears to want to take responsibility until blood tests are complete to check whether the animals carry African Swine Fever or other contagious diseases. NKD.
