A Very Public Suicide Outside Daun Penh Hospital

Phnom Penh: A man climbed up a tree and hanged himself in front of Preah Ket Mealea hospital.
The incident occurred at 3 am on November 2, 2019 along 47 (France St)/ 88 Street, in Sangkat Srah Chork, Daun Penh District, Phnom Penh.

According to sources at the scene, an unidentified 40-year-old man had been seen hanging around the area for a few days. He some sort of noose and quickly scaled up the tree. Some people tried to stop him, but couldn’t get to him. Halfway up the tree, tied the noose around his neck and hanged himself, causing much shock to those at the scene.

After the incident, local authorities came to inspect the body, confirming that the victim had died from suicide by hanging.
