Phnom Penh: Anti-Narcotics police, in collaboration with the Interpol and Indonesian authorities have had a convicted Vietnamese-Canadian drug smuggler returned to Cambodia.
On October 25, 2019, Le Hong Phi, a Vietnamese-Canadian, was arrested in Bali, Indonesia, thanks to an Interpol warrant.
On November 1, 2019, Cambodian police in cooperation with the Indonesian police bring Le Hong Phi from Indonesia to Cambodia.
The mastermind was sentenced to life imprisonment (*presumably in absentia) for an attempt to smuggle more than one ton of cocaine from Ecuador to Cambodia in November 2016 by sea. The drugs were seized in Shanghai port, while Cambodian authorities arrested a director of a Vietnamese company in Phnom Penh
