Phnom Penh: If initial reports are true, French national Charlene Savarino has been deported to her native country of France.
Savarino was senetence to 25 years in prison in 2014 for her part in a heroin smuggling operation from Cambodia to Australia. She was aged 19 at the time of her conviction.
Australian Yoshe Ann Taylor, 47, who was also convicted alongside Savarino was released in May 2019.
The pair were arrested on the evening of September 18, 2013, at Phnom Penh International Airport after 2.2 kg of heroin were found in their luggage. On top of the jail sentences, both were ordered to pay 50 million riels to the state.
