Traffic Deaths Rise as Holiday Begins

Phnom Penh – Traffic police reports say that on September 26, 18 road accidents nationwide killed 13 people and left 20 injured. The most common causes of accidents were disrespectful driving due and speed. All 13 of the dead were motorcyclists and 9 were not wearing helmets.

Road accidents on September 26 increased both the number of accidents and deaths compared to September 25. On September 25, 2019, 17 road accidents across the country killed 10 people and injured 23 others.

Notably, in the days leading up to the Pchum Ben holiday, residents, especially Phnom Penh residents, travel to their hometown to gather with their families for the occasion.
