Streets Run Red in Stung Meanchey

Phnom Penh: Residents in Stung Mean Chey 3 are worried and fearful about health effects because of scarlet-colored water, suspected to be some sort of chemical ink or dye, has flowed out of large (*unnamed) paper factory almost everyday.

They say there has been no intervention from local authorities, despite complaints.   

People fear that the substance could have a negative impact on those living in the area as well as travelers, and there is also a residue left by paper production. Another unnamed source said a bad smell from the factory had spread throughout his house, making life difficult for him.

Residents would like to request the relevant ministry or the local authority to inspect and recommend the owners of this place to clean up their business and improve city life.  NKD
