Traffic Deaths Rise in August

Phnom Penh:  According to the report of the National Police, on August 31, 2019, there were 5 traffic accidents nationwide, resulting in three deaths, one minor injury and four serious injuries. .

In the 31 days from August 1 to 31, 2019 there were 314 reported serious accidents, resulting in 170 deaths, 272 serious injuries and 154 minor injuries.

This is almost 21% higher, a considerable increase on July (141), which had seen a drop from June (165).

At least 1,339 people have been killed in traffic accidents in 2019*.

*How these statistics are compiled is unknown, and whether serious injuries which later lead to death are included.
