Phnom Penh: Police from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection teamed up with local police to crack down on a foreign run bar secretly offering sexual services, detaining 9 men and women (including the shop owner) for questioning over night.
The incident happened at 10.10 pm on August 26, 2019 at the Bunny Bar, 9Eo Street 104, Wat Phnom, Daun Penh District, Phnom Penh.
According to police officers, there was a confidential report from residents that the “Bunny Bar” had been selling sexual services and is staffed by minors (under 15). Police at the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department conducted a lengthy investigation on the day of the incident in cooperation with local authorities at Wat Phnom Police Station.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a total of nine people*, reported to be eight women and a foreign man, a 61-year-old named only as John, at the scene of the crackdown.
Now, after the crackdown, the nine, including the owner of the site, are temporarily detained at the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department for questioning to build a case to submit to the court.
*Later reports from other sources say 11 were detained, 2 being foreign men.
It sounds like bs charges to me. I have been there a few times and never noticed anyone underaged.
How would you notice? Do you check their ID cards? A 14-year-old does not look very – or any – different from a 15-year-old. A minor in Cambodia, as stated in the article, is someone under 15.
Here in Cambodia they can be 19 but look like 39
