Phnom Penh: Cambodian and Lao troops are “renegotiating” after a tense stand-off, according to an army spokesman, who said the situation is manageable, not confrontational. This comes after reports that several villages were being prepared for evacuation after a sudden build up of military forces on both sides of the border.
The Laotian army have reportedly moved into, or have prepared to move into, disputed Cambodian territory on the border. Cambodia has a firm position not to allow Laotian troops to do so.
Negotiations between the two sides are said to be ongoing.
