Reports of Trouble in Ream

Preah Sihanouk: Initial reports on social media say that residents have been protesting for the removal of a barricade put up by a Chinese company on the way to Koh Samet beach in Ream district, Prey Nup district on July 17, 2019.

It appears a security hut was smashed and a Chinese man injured. Authorities have intervened and prevented the violence from escalating. There also seem to have been arrests made.

No official reports have yet been made to confirm the incident, which is believed to have occurred before 5 pm.
