No Charges After Young Monks Whipped

Preah Vihear Province: Following widely shared photos on social media, an investigation was launched into the beating of two young novice monks, which is alleged to have occurred on July 5, 2019 at 9:30 am in Khum Thmey, Kouleaen District.

The monks, aged 13 and 14, were pictured after being whipped by a 54 year monk at the pagoda.

Police visited the monk and instructed him not to do these acts in the future after the boys guardians declined to make an official complaint.
