Takeo: An outbreak of African swine fever was confirmed on July 8, 2019, in Angkor Borei district, Takeo. 27 infected pigs were killed. This comes after the virus was also discovered in Prey Veng, following earlier outbreaks in Rattanakiri and Tbong Khum provinces.
Ministry of Agriculture officials have ordered a ban on the transportation of animals and pork products in the affected area and also began a disinfection campaign to try to prevent the virus spreading further west.
The virus is fatal to pigs, but does not affect human health. https://kbn.news/archives/127702
