Deputy Drugs Chief in Court Over Laundry Shooting

Phnom Penh The Police Chief of Sen Sok Police, Colonel Hour Meng Vang confirmed that in the morning of June 26, police will send Heng Sovanna, Deputy Director of Anti-Narcotics Bureau of the Anti-Drug Department (A4), to the Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on charges of attempted murder.

The incident occurred on June 24 at 22:35 inPhsar Thsuk Thla, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.

The victim, Song Soṇa, 35 was sleeping above the launderette business when the suspect fired rounds from an assault rifle into the property, causing damage but no injury.

The suspect and weapon were picke up at his home in Phsar Tuk Tlaar, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok after police checked CCTV footage.

The top drugs cop has been charged under Articles 27 and 199 of the Criminal Code “Attempts to Murder” stating attempts at killing with weapons or non-weapons in aggravating circumstances are punishable by imprisonment from 10 years to 15 years.
