Australian Solar for 1400 Homes in Kampong Thom

Shine on! Australia is supporting Cambodia’s initiative to introduce more renewable energy into the energy mix. Australia’s Investing in Infrastructure (3i) program, implemented by Palladium, has co-invested in a locally run solar farm in Kampong Thom – leveraging private investment in this important model.

The solar arrays will work in tandem with an existing off-grid electricity generation system to provide at least 1,400 households in 7 villages increased access to reliable and affordable electricity.

The project is expected start operations in July 2019, and will serve as a demonstration for off-grid electrification of rural areas using renewable energy. It will also provide crucial data for the Renewable Energy Master Plan being developed by the Cambodian Government, with support from 3i.
