Weeding at Angkor

Siem Reap: Apsara Authority cleared weeds, grass and shrubs from temples around the Angkor area.

Long Kosal, a spokesperson for the Apsara Authority, said on Friday, May 24, 2019, that the cleaning was most often done during the rainy season.

Because of the heavy rains, small plants and grass grow faster. All the temple cleaning techniques are done by hand, with ladders, wires, ropes, helmets and belts for safety when climbing to the top of the temple or high sections to cut the grass and small plants.

Long Kosal said that the removal of weeds and plants from the temple was the part of regular maintenance activities, which the team regularly holds.
