Pursat Snake Smugglers Stopped

Pursat: Authorities stopped a case of wildlife trafficking on the morning of May 24, 2019, on National Road 5, Barmel Village, Roleap Commune, Pursat City.

Five snakes (*possibly pythons, source doesn’t say anything more than ‘coiled snakes’) were being transported in closed containers, sources report.

The reptiles were found inside a mini bus taxi “2B-1410” which was stopped by Forestry officials.

UPDATE: The taxi driver claimed he didn’t know what the boxes contained and that he had been paid to deliver them to Battambang. He was taken away for questioning along with his wife and daughter. A total of 78 kg of snakes were recovered.
