Thai Army Shoots Two Cambodian Loggers

Pursat: Thai forces killed one Cambodian citizen and seriously injured another after they crossed into Thai territory to cut rosewood on the afternoon of April 24, 2019.

The incident occurred near Thansen Village, Lem Toch Commune, Mueang District, Trat Province, Thailand, across the border from Thmey Village, Thmor Da Commune, Veal Veng District, Pursat Province.

According to the report, the dead man was named Mao Mom, a 26-year-old male from Prek Le village, Samrong commune, Kravanh district, Pursat province, who killed by a bullet in his throat.

The heavily injured man, named Anh Vít, a 24-year-old male from the same village, was shot 3 times. The victims were sent to Chanthaburi for preliminary diagnosis and were sent to Trat Hospital for treatment.

According to the army’s report, the men were shot after they crossed into the Thai territory and were about 3 km from the border. One of the victims was also found with two rosewood trees.

The sources report that the Thai armed forces have killed other people in the area, but has not been confirmed.
