Military Exercises in Kampot Province 3-8 May
PHNOM PENH: – A spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense wrote on the official Facebook page on April 25:
“Dear respected Facebook (users), the public, and the international community, Cambodia will hold the 2019 “Hanuman Gold Exercise” at the Techo Sen Chum Kiri Shooting Field at Trapaing Veng Village, Trapeang Veng, Chol Kiri, Kampot province for 6 days from 03 to 08 May 2019.”
“The Hanuman Gold 2019 is designed to strengthen the capacity, knowledge and expertise of army officers and soldiers to protect current and future territorial integrity”, he added.
The exercise will help improve the ability to provide knowledge, labor, and armament to conduct a drill of military personnel training in cooperation between military and military forces during training as well as during combat.
The opening ceremony of the “Hanuman Gold Festival 2019” will take place on May 3, 2019, presided over by Major General Hun Manet, Deputy Commander of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Army Command. The closing ceremony of this important exercise will be presided over by General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces on May 8, 2019.
The Hanuman Gold Exercise 2019 will have 1,595 people participating in the drills, including from the Army, Navy and Air Defense Command, including the Infantry Regiment, and Brigade. No. 70, Special Paratroopers 911, NCC Engineering Command, Office 5 and Transport Division No. 90, also known as the NCHADS.
Munitions that will be used in the drills will include 152mm and 122mm artillery, 23mm guns, 37mm guns, BM21 RM70s, tanks, armored vehicles, fire trucks and helicopters.
This will be the fourth Hanuman Gold, with previous exercises in 2010, 2013 and 2018.
The Ministry of National Defense spokesman called for the residents in Kampot province not to be alarmed by the drills and ask for understanding for any inconvenience.
