Nigerian-Cambodian Couple Sent to Prey Sar

Phnom Penh: A Nigerian man and a Cambodian woman on April 3, 2019 , went in front of Phnom Penh Municipal Court Judge Kuy Sov, who issued a detention order to Prey Sar prison on charges of fraud.

The first accused was identified as Shehu Bello Akharuku, a 37-year-old male from Nigeria, the second was Kim Srey Kech, a 24-year-old Cambodian female.

On the morning of April 3, 2019, the police department of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crimes Department of the Ministry of Interior, sent the Nigerian and a Cambodian to the Phnom Penh Court of First Instance.

It is reported that the pair may be husband and wife. The case was handed over to the Deputy Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, before the Judge issued a pre-trial custodial order for the duo.

Further details of the alleged fraud have not yet been released.
