Workers Strike For Living Wage in Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville: At around 12 noon on March 30, 2019, about 100 construction workers building casinos and hotels protested in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville Both Cambodian and Chinese labourers picketed the company they work for, blocking the road in order to demand that the employer provides a living wage, and claiming that the employer at risk of bankruptcy.

According to a provisional report from the authorities, after the incident, representatives of the casino and hotel companies sent representatives of to meet for a resolution with the participation of Mr. Eam Sarrin, Deputy Governor of Sihanoukville and Mr. Meth Vanna, Head of Dispute Resolution Department of Labor and Vocational Training Department.
