Illegal Ratanakiri Gem Mines Discovered

Ratanakiri: The anti-economic crime police, in cooperation with the Department of Mines and Energy and the provincial police chief, raided an illegal gem mining site.

Three pits were discovered, according to the Department of Information on the morning of March 15.

The source said that the crackdown took place at 3 pm on March 14 in a cashew nut and rubber plantation.

Police confiscated some materials and 9 motorbikes.

The source said that when the police came, the miners found out and all escaped.

Earlier in March, an ethnic Tampuan miner died when his pit caved in.
