Monkeys Face Eviction From Sihanoukville

Sihanoukville: Monkeys on Sihanoukville’s Independence Beach have been accused of affecting public order.

Although they provide an interesting photo opportunity for visitors, the growing population is considered by provincial authorities to cause a disturbance along the public road, and will be relocated to a natural jungle site in Pursat.

The monkey relocation notice was signed and stamped by Norn Chamroeun, Director of Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Preah Sihanouk Province, dated 5 February 2019.

The notice informs the general public why the authorities have evict the simians from trees near Independence Beach, as the monkeys interfere with people and affect traffic and create disorder on public streets.
