Thai Telephone Tricksters Deported

Phnom Penh: At 5:00 am on December 22, 2018, the Department of Investigation and Enforcement of the General Department of Immigration detained 26 Thais, including 9 women in connection with telephone scams targeting Thailand. They were sent through the Poipet international border for the Thai police to accept.

The move follows the Ministry of Interior’s announcement dated 27 and 29 November 2018.

The Thai people were arrested by Phnom Penh Military Police on February 7, 2018, at the Poung Pheay commune, Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, and sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and later spent 10 months in prison.
