Monk Fabricates Break-In Tale

Kampong Speu:  On November 29, 2018, a monk named Mon Oeun of Tep Oum Ream pagoda, located in Sampeoung Village, Ponhea Commune, Samrong District. Kompong Speu provincial court filed a complaint with the Samrong district police inspector. 

He claimed that thieves had broken through a door and stolen valuable materials and millions of Riel. 

 After receiving the complaint, police officer researched the case and ended up arresting the same 42 year old monk who came to them.

The monk confessed to fabricating the story on November 30, 2018, and told cops it was he who had stolen 16,050,000 (sixteen million riel, $ 900) after he smashed the doors himself.

The monk has been sent to the Kompong Speu Provincial Police Commissariat for legal procedures.
