Tourists to SHK Down 26%
Sihanoukville: It can be considered as a historical lesson for Sihanoukville, as the number of tourists visiting during the three days of water festival, from November 21 to 23, 2018, fell by 25.88% compared to 2017.
However, the number of tourists visiting the islands was up by 8.36%.
A cruise ship which docked at Preah Sihanouk International Port on November 22 brought 854 people to the town.
The price of hotel and guest house accommodation has now increased by 20% to 35%, and seafood is about 20% higher than previous years, which is one reason tourists may be staying away from the beach.
Been visiting the islands for yrs with my family and cannot believe how awful SHK is now. Overun with casinos, with no infrastructure, and little work for the locals. Truly a mess, now commonly referred to as Shitville.
