Man Attacks Girl With Acid, Then Drinks It

Kampong Thom: A woman was seriously injured after a man attacked her with acid.  After the incident the suspect drank the same acid in a suicide attempt.

The incident occurred at 10:30 am on November 8, 2018 at Trapeang Thom commune, Santuk district, Kampong Thom province.

Police said that the suspect, identified as Yeung Veasna, a 30-year-old male allegedly threw acid on 21-year-old Yang Sophep, causing serious injuries, before consuming it himself. The motive appears to have been jealousy.

Both were sent to hospital, the girl with serious skin burns and the man suffering serous internal injuries, which will likely be fatal.
