Penniless and Overstaying Aussie Picked up in Sofitel

Phnom Penh: On 04 November 2018 at 2.40 pm  Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers received a foreigner from the Tonle Bassac police force in Chamkarmon. She was picked up at the Sofitel with no money and and expired visa.

Lieutenant Cheat Chetra, chief of the Department of Investigation and Enforcement of the Phnom Penh Procedures, said the foreigner,  Carol Ann Evans, is a 47-year-old Australian woman.

She went to the Sofitel, ordered food worth $25, and after it transpired she had no money to settle the bill, police were called.

The office head said that after arrest, the office staff discovered she came to Cambodia on September 04, 2018, through Siem Reap International Airport as a tourist and was supposed to leave within a month.

 

She has been sent to the General Department to carry out the procedures of the law.
