Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of October 31, 2018, Judge Pakchang Sambo, a judge at the Court of Appeal declared an order to uphold the verdict of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in the case of Khieu Sopheak, a police officer at the Ministry of Interior.
The original court case was over intimidation and distributing pornographic photos of his ex-girlfriend.
Phnom Penh Municipal Court judge issued a verdict July 24, 2017, and sentenced the accused to one year in prison and a compensation of 200 million Riels, under “intentional and graphic violence” committed in Phnom Penh in 2016 under Article 217 of the Penal Code, Article 38 and Article 39 of the Law on the Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual exploitation.
This verdict was appealed, and this appeal has now been rejected by the courts.
