28 Guns Seized and 8 Subversives in Court

Phnom Penh: A group of eight people have been detained in connection with illegal arms trading, terrorism and other subversive activities.

The 8 suspects were arrested In Kampong Speu, Kampot and Pursat in late September 2018. Police were sent to court on September 30, 2018.

According to the report, 28 weapons that were seized, were hidden by suspects on land in Phnom Penh,  Chhouk district, Kampot province and Boeng Sdok village, Svay Sro commune, Krakor district, Pursat province.

According police, a suspect confessed that his group wanted to revolt against the government and seek financial resources.

Lieutenant General Chay Kim Khoeun, Deputy Chief of Police and Deputy Chief of Staff, told Rasmei Kampuchea on the morning of October 1 There were eight detained people and 28 guns. And there will be subsequent arrests.  Gen. Y Sok Khy, director of the Ministry of Interior’s Department of Counterterrorism and Transnational Crime, stated that eight people had been sent To the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

Meanwhile, Phnom Penh Municipal Court spokesman Ly Sovan told Rasmey Kampuchea on the afternoon of October 1 that the prosecution had chrged all eight people for unauthorized access to Armed Groups, Armed Forces, and Explosives, and for joining armed groups under Articles 485, 486, and 7 488 of the Penal Code. And the case has been referred to the Investigating Judge to proceed with the proceedings
