Swiss Group Will Help To Promote Skills Training

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training on September 20 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Swiss Development Professionals Program (SDP). The Swiss will help to carry out skills training projects in 3 provinces; Kratie, Stung Treng and Preah Vihear so that the vulnerable population, less educated people and the unemployed have the skills to find jobs and establish their own businesses.

“The first of the project is to educate the people in the three provinces above,” said Pich Sophoan, secretary of state at the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). From theoretical training to the practice itself, at work sites, such as factories and industrial centers in Cambodia. “

He said that the project was designed to make Cambodian people skilled, able to work, earn a decent income, increase living standards and align with the human development policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

This activity is widespread in Cambodia, but the Ministry of Labor wants more training in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia’s major economic and tourist center in the near future.

“The project has been implemented steadily since 2016 and continues until 2020 with a goal of training 5,400 people and by 2018 the project has provided training to About half of the population. “

The project will continue to provide training for all of the above identified levels with real capacity and access to employment. And this board will continue to support those who set up their own businesses after being trained.
