Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a press release on September 17, 2018 stating that the Cambodian ambassador to China, Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh have continued to intervene in the cases of 55 Cambodians and repatriate them to their homeland.
State Department Press Statement:
1: The Cambodian ambassador to China has cooperated with the Chinese authorities to intervene in the rescue and repatriation of two Cambodian women from Kompong Cham and Tbong Khmum, who have been married illegally with Chinese men in China. The two women returned to Cambodia on Saturday, September 16, 2018.
2: The Cambodian ambassador to Malaysia has cooperated with Malaysian authorities to organize repatriation of 22 Cambodian workers from Kompong Cham, Kampong Thom, Takeo, Tbong Khmum, Battambang, Pursat, Preah Vihear, and Svay Rieng, who have been working illegally in Malaysia. All 22 Cambodian workers arrived in Cambodia on September 2, 2018.
3: The Cambodian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City cooperated with the Vietnamese authorities to organize the repatriation of 31 Cambodian people (including 23 children) from Svay Rieng province, who were living and doing illegal illegal activities in Vietnam. The Consulate General gave the 31 citizens back to Cambodia on September 14, 2018 at the Bavet International border checkpoint to hand over to Cambodian authorities for resettlement.
