Large Vehicles Still Banned From National Road 5

Banteay Meanchey: The Poipet Administration has not yet withdrawn the warning over prohibited large vehicles for fear of heavy loads of cars causing road damage.

San Sean Ho, the mayor of Poipet, told Rasmei Kampuchea Daily on September 16 that the warning was not withdrawn because of more rainfall.  From September 12 to September 15 rain continued to soak into the road network, both on National Highway 5 and other streets in the city.

Please note that many heavy rainfall since September 12, has flooded around the Poipet international border gate. Office of Customs and Excise Administration and Police Station Poipet (Immigration Police), Stung Treng Road, Market District, Bayon Road,  and the entrance to Poipet Sangkat, nearly 80 percent of roads and courtyards are flooded.

However, concerns are that more rainfall will cause tremendous damage to both private and public property in Poipet if it continues.
