Cambodia-Russia Agree Future Military Ties

Moscow (Phnom Penh Reporter): The Ministry of National Defense, on September 1 announced that during a formal visit to the Russian Federation for the Technical Fair Forum (2018) in Moscow, Russia, an agreement was signed between the Royal Government of Cambodia and The Russian Federation Government for future armed forces co-operation.

Military cooperation between Cambodia and Russia began in 1956, and, in the past, the Russian Federation has helped to train the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), and currently has 289 Cambodian military students studying in Russia. RCAF demining experts are among those studying techniques in Russia. 

Russia will be ready to cooperate in the repair and modernization of arms, ammunition and technical equipment for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

On the day of the ceremony, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a televised message to celebrate the journey. The opening ceremony of the event, in which the president affirmed that this event is a show of the International Military Technical Exhibition (Army 2018). At the International Military Technical Exhibition (Army2018) in Moscow, about 1,400 Russian and foreign companies attended the exhibition of  military products, with representatives from 118 countries participating.
